MCE 2023 - Festival Marketing Solutions
When history is being made in your own city, you show up. I had the opportunity to be a lead creative force behind Kansas City's first-ever cannabis expo — held at none other than the city's largest venue, the T-Mobile Center. The Major Cannabis Expo (MCE) wasn't just another event — it was a milestone for the culture, the industry, and the community.
From day one, this project was big. We weren’t just marketing an event — we were branding a movement. My role? To create and execute the visual identity and marketing assets that would carry this event from an idea to a full-blown, high-traffic weekend experience.
Creative Direction Across Every Touchpoint
As the sole creative responsible for the MCE rollout, I designed and deployed everything from:
Key art and branding assets
Print collateral for vendors, sponsors, and attendees
Billboard design across the city
Social media content to promote ticket sales and hype artist reveals
On-screen visuals used inside the T-Mobile Center during the event
It wasn’t just about making things look good — it was about building consistency across every platform and giving this new expo a bold, recognizable voice in a still-evolving industry.
Bringing Culture to the Forefront
A major draw for the event was the headliner lineup — including Juicy J, That Mexican OT, and a full roster of artists, influencers, and cannabis brands. The challenge was creating visuals that matched the energy of live performances with the professionalism required by a large-scale convention and a high-profile venue. Every piece of content needed to hype the culture while staying aligned with regulations and event goals.
From Digital to Real-World Impact
What made this project special wasn’t just the creative work — it was the reach. From huge outdoor billboards to fast-paced Instagram reels, we built a campaign that pushed boundaries and reached tens of thousands of people across KC and beyond. The MCE brand became a visual staple leading up to the event, drawing in a diverse crowd and putting the Midwest cannabis industry in the national spotlight.
